FROM FAMILIES
Our
son was diagnosed with leukaemia and we live over 100 miles away.
Without the House we simply couldn’t have coped – it allowed
our family to be together while we were helping him in his battle –
he was only 2½ at the time. We stayed in the House for 11 months.

Just
being able to leave the ward and come back to the peace and quiet of my own
room whilst knowing I’m only a minute away from my daughter has been
a huge help. Everyone’s been so friendly and I’ve made many
friends who really understand what I’m going through.

It’s
absolutely wonderful – you don’t have to pay anything to stay
here and they have everything you could possibly need. We stayed for
over a year whilst our daughter was in the hospital and when she was recovering
she was able to come over and stay here with us. She really loved coming
over to the House – after months in hospital it gave her the chance
to be a normal little girl again.

There
is a Tree of Life in the hall at the House which acknowledges donations of
£1,000 or more. A few of us got together and ran a fundraising
event. We really enjoyed ourselves – it was great to be helping
others – and it’s lovely to see our names on the Tree. Let’s
face it you never know when you may need the support the House offers yourself!
